Task Rabbit: Quick work for unemployed or underemployed

Task Rabbit: It’s a “new take on social networking. It’s service networking.” If you have empty pockets and need extra cash, a new service is making its rounds; and, based on its popularity, many people are in need of quick cash.

According to the site, if you are busy but need menial tasks done quickly and cheaply, you can register for free, list a task, and wait for people to respond. “Try us for Goodwill drop-offs, IKEA furniture assembly, airport rides, grocery runs, and tons more. You name it, we do it.” I can already see the dangers in this service, but I won’t be so negative as to speak them into existence.

What are your thoughts on TaskRabbit? Would you use it? Would you respond to be a “runner”?

  1. I might try it once it has had time to take root a bit more. Depending on the task at hand. Things that wouldn’t take a big chunk out of my life if they end up falling through.

It is a good service, I think people will use it more than we think they would, I thought craiglist was dangerous idea, but people will always find a way to abuse an idea.
