Analyzing Social Media Marketing Efforts

With the #25Reasons Project I held predetermined goals based on previously held ideas of social media marketing best practices. I believed:

Does the Customer Have a Role In Customer Service?

This is a clip from an episode of Seinfeld entitled “The Soup Nazi”. Towards the end of the clip you see the Soup Nazi describe his logic in refusing service to people who do not follow the rules of his business.

Angry Customers on Twitter

On more than one occasion I’ve seen angry tweets fired off at companies with accounts on Twitter. These people were never angry with the person who has to answer them, though.

Today I posed a question to the people who follow the Twitter chat: #custserv (and anyone else who was listening). What follows is a transcript of the responses to my question.

Job Search Pet Peeves

When searching for internships, I’m often confronted by the above statement. As an older non-student seeking experience, my pet peeve is finding great internships that I cannot apply for because I’m not in school.

I am Having a Bad Day

The week started out great. Projects were going well. Everything was working out with your team. Then, all of a sudden, BOOM. Everything goes wrong and you feel like the only person you can rely on is yourself.

SWAGG Meets GenYChat on 12/15 and 12/22

On December 15, 2010 and December 22, 2010 #GenYChat will be sponsored by the mobile application: SWAGG. The SWAGG app lets users give electronic gift cards that can be used with over 3000 stores and merchants including CBSSports.com, JCPenney, and Wet Seal. SWAGG is on a mission to Stand Up To Cancer, and they’re donating $1 up to $125K every time someone with an iPhone, Android, or Blackberry Torch downloads and registers the mobile app.

Not wanting to alienate #genychat participants, I did distribute a post seeking community feedback and all responses were in favor of the sponsored chat. There will be little difference to these chats. The sole addition will be three sponsored tweets that will go out at the beginning, middle, and end of the chat.

Social Media: Why Generation Y, Z, College Students and Their Professors Need to Learn It

Harrisburg University, a small college located in Pennsylvania recently put its students and faculty on social probation. I can see why this might seem like a good idea, and I had to do something similar when I was in college, but it’s a dangerous lesson that doesn’t account for the good that can come from social media participation.
